No-Show Policy

Last updated: June 10, 2026

Definition

A "no-show" occurs when an educator accepts a shift but fails to arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time without prior notice or a valid emergency reason communicated through the Platform.

1. Educator No-Shows

  • First no-show: Warning issued, Reliability Score reduced, and mandatory review of Community Standards.
  • Second no-show: 7-day suspension from accepting new shifts, additional Reliability Score impact.
  • Third no-show: 30-day suspension or permanent removal from the Platform depending on circumstances.

No-shows are taken very seriously because they leave centres understaffed and children without adequate supervision.

2. Centre No-Shows

A "centre no-show" occurs when a centre cancels a confirmed shift without notifying the educator or NurtureLoop, or when the centre is closed and unreachable at shift start.

  • First incident: Warning and review of best practices.
  • Repeated incidents: Restrictions on posting shifts, subscription review, or account suspension.

3. Reporting a No-Show

Both educators and centres can report no-shows through the shift details page within 24 hours of the scheduled shift start. Please include:

  • The time you arrived or attempted contact.
  • Any messages sent through the Platform.
  • Relevant details about the situation.

NurtureLoop reviews all reports within 1 business day and may contact both parties for additional context.

4. Valid Excuses

We understand emergencies happen. Valid excuses that may mitigate no-show penalties include:

  • Medical emergency with supporting documentation.
  • Family emergency (serious illness or death).
  • Extreme weather making travel unsafe.
  • Public transit failure with evidence.

Documentation must be submitted through the Platform within 48 hours of the missed shift.

5. Impact on Reliability Score

No-shows have a significant negative impact on your Reliability Score. This score is visible to centres when browsing educators and directly affects your ability to receive shift invitations and preferred placement.

6. Appeals

If you believe a no-show report was filed in error or that your situation qualifies for mitigation, you may submit an appeal within 7 days to support@nurtureloop.ca. Include all relevant evidence and a clear explanation.

7. Prevention Tips

  • Confirm shift details and location the day before.
  • Set multiple reminders before shift start.
  • Keep the centre's contact information accessible.
  • Update your availability immediately if your plans change.
  • Build in travel time for unfamiliar locations.
